I have just finished reading a book, Red Daisy, by an author new to me, Gemma Owen-Kendall. Not only that, but the genre, fantasy romance, was new to me too. I was skeptical about whether I would enjoy my choice, but I needn't have worried. This is an great book.

The Blurb
What if the girl who wore the red coat fell in love with the wolf?
Grace Kennedy was once a quiet teenage girl, growing up in a rural area with her parents. When Grace turns sixteen, she moves to a new town to live with her grandparents to study a diploma in Dance at the local college.
It's there that Grace’s life changes when she meets the polite and charming Daniel and also encounters the dark and mysterious Ben.
But are both boys truly who they say they are ...?
Dealing with the sudden strange events happening to her and a complicated love triangle, Grace world implodes when she learns that werewolves and spellcasters do truly exist.

The Review
Red Daisy by Gemma Owen-Kendall is a clever and original re-working of the traditional fairy tale Red Riding Hood. However, to describe it as that does not give the author credit for the story she tells.
I was completely wrong-footed when the main protagonist, Grace, meets the two boys who enter her life at the beginning of her story. The way the two boys are introduced and handled by the author is a testament to Owen-Kendall's skill and talent.
I enjoyed the twists and turns in Grace's story and the reveals that are teased out by the author during the tale. (No spoilers!) The beautifully drawn characters, the gripping story line and the vivid descriptions make for a compelling read. I thoroughly enjoyed Red Daisy and highly recommend this book.

This novel is quite simply a delight. I highly recommend it.
