I was on holiday when I finished the book I was reading. Luckily, the hotel I was staying at had a library for the use of guests. I chose Fallen by Karin Slaughter.
The Blurb
Special Agent Faith Mitchell returns home to a nightmare.
Her baby daughter has been locked outside, and there's a trail of blood leading to the front door. Inside a man lies dead in a pool of blood and Faith's own mother is missing.
When the Atlanta police arrive, Faith has some difficult questions to answer. But she has some desperate questions of her own. What were the killers searching for? And where is her mother?
Now Faith's work partner, Will Trent, must piece together the fragments of a brutal and complicated case, and catch a murderer with only one thing on his mind.
The Review
Fallen is the fifth book in the author's Will Trent series.
The story Fallen takes the reader on a journey of discovery to better understand the characters of the main character Faith and her mother, Evelyn. The women have more in common than Faith ever realised, but Evelyn's whereabouts are unknown to her family and friends as she is forced to face her past in the most brutal way
Faith's partner, Will Trent, and their boss Amanda Wagner of the GBI, and Will's girlfriend Sara work together tirelessly and bravely to investigate Evelyn's past and discover what has happened to her and why.
The story traces Evelyn's past and the period of her retirement before Will and Faith discover the secret that has put her in danger now.
Fallen is classic Slaughter. A gripping, complex story told with pace ans style. all brought to a satisfying conclusion by beautifully drawn characters.
